As I mentioned before, after the 80s all went wrong. So let`s have a look at the movies which are cult today (random order)
Platoon – (1986, Oliver Stone) (Tom Berenger, Willem Dafoe, Charlie Sheen)
Blade Runner – (1982, Ridley Scott) (Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer)
The Empire Strikes Back – (1980, Irvin Kershner) (Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford)
Full Metal Jacket – (1987, Stanley Kubrick) (Mathew Modine, Adam Baldwin)
Das Boot – (1981, Wolfgang Peterson) (Jurgen Prochnow, Herbert Gronemeyer)
The Untouchables – (1987, Brian De Palma) (Kevin Costner, Sean Connery)
The Terminator – (1984, James Cameron) (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton)
Die Hard – (1988, John McTiernan) (Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman)
Poltergeist – (1982, Tobe Hooper) (Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams)
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)
Star Trek 3: The Search For Spock (1984)
Wall Street (1987)
Back to the Future – (1985, Robert Zemeckis) (Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd)
Return of the Jedi – (1983, Richard Marquand) (Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford)
Ghostbusters – (1984, Ivan Reitman) (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray)
The Breakfast Club – (1985, John Hughes) (Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez)
And my personal favorite:
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – (1986, John Hughes) (Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck)
Man, these movies where awesome! What do we see today? The boring sequel Number 5000. Special effects without story. Don`t get me wrong dude, not every movie is that bad, but there is something wrong in Hollywood.
